Lithology and Thickness
It is composed of sandstone and alternating beds of sandstone and mudstone with intercalated conglomerate, and has been divided into the Kitsunezaki, Makinohama. Kozumi and Fukiura members (Takizawa et at., 1974).

Fossils
The Oginohama Formation yieids Oxfordian-Tithonian ammonoids (lnai & Takahashi 1940; Sato 1962: Takahashi 1969; Takizawa et a1., 1974) and abundant plant fossils belonging to the Ryoseki Flora (Kimura & Ohana 1989a, b).
